Myles Turner is someone our network is quite familiar with; we’ve had Myles on multiple shows, whether on Inked NBA, aka Sessions, or one of our original shows, the Tidal League Podcast.
Today, we meet Myles as he sits down on the Run Your Race pod with his fellow 2014 classmate Theo. Myles was polite, insightful, and a joy to be around. We had some exciting conversations about the world’s next superpower and, typically, a conversation that you wouldn’t have with a stranger, let alone an NBA all-star; I digress, though!
Myles takes us through his journey as one of the most unique situations in the NBA. He feels like the one player in trade rumours for the last 4-5 years with exceptionally high value that hasn’t been traded. Myles has also been on the Indiana Pacers for his whole career, nine years in at 27. You don’t hear much about highly valued players who are still relatively young and aren’t traded after a year or two of rumours.
His convo is insightful as he takes you down his days playing in Austin, Texas. He has an interesting story about when he finally realized basketball was a business rather than feeling just “blessed” to be playing basketball at a highly competitive level.
Then you look at the evolution of his career, being handed the “keys” to the franchise quite early and having them taken away just as quickly. He’s lived through two different eras of the NBA, where he’s played against prime Lebron James and played with Paul George at a young age. Since then, he has become a wise man on the Pacers.
