Danny Green is Coming to Halifax & We're Throwing a Canada Day Party with Him
With the Toronto Raptors game six victory over the Golden State Warriors, Canada has yet to stop celebrating their first NBA title. The historic win marked not only a major accomplishment for the NBA and the Raptors but an epic milestone in Canadian sports. There has been a noticeable drought in Canadian titles in American leagues, and based on the Kawhi Leonard - Demar DeRozan trade gamble, Canada pulled off the unimaginable.
With all the hard work and grueling support fans put into the Raptors over the years, it is safe to say Canada’s fan-base deserves this amazing accomplishment. From coast to coast Canadians have been on an two-week-long honeymoon, and with Canada Day just a a week away, there are no signs of it slowing down. While major cities like Toronto and Vancouver are used to having big names come to town for celebrations, the same cannot be said for Halifax.
This year, however, Tidal League is looking to change that. After six successful Jurassic Park events, helping put Halifax on the big screen during Canada’s biggest moment, we are again looking to bring you an unforgettable event. We want to make this Canada Day a special one for Haligonians by bringing home one of the champions from Canada’s team, and his name is Danny Green.
Danny Green has always been a vocal voice for the community with a passion for engagement and connection. You can see evidence of this from his podcasts, NBA cares community programs, and the philanthropy he did during his time with the San Antonio Spurs. On June 29th he will be conducting a basketball development camp right here in Halifax giving young Haligonian hoopers the chance to learn from a two-time NBA champ. Inclusion and diversity are what make great champions and having role models in your hometown are vital to understanding that anyone from anywhere can be great. Lindell Wigginton would most definitely agree with that as the Dartmouth native just signed his first NBA contract with the Raptors days ago. Halifax is growing each and every year and this city is a budding sports market ready to show its grit and true colours on the big stage. Danny Green inspiring our basketball youth to help galvanize the players of tomorrow is only the beginning with more and more players taking note of the east.
The Jurassic Park events marked the most successful and exciting events Halifax has ever seen with the Raptors organization taking notice of how amazing the turnout was. “We The East” could be seen on fan-made signs and Jurassic Park Halifax was noticed on four national broadcasts throughout the NBA finals. With all the hype generated around those watch parties, Tidal League is again looking to create another unforgettable Halifax first.
On June 30th, Tidal League in conjunction with Danny Green and his camp will be throwing another major outdoor party to thank our beautiful fans and this amazing city. We want to give the city the opportunity to party with the champion himself while leading up to our most valued day of the year, Canada Day!!
